Another rant. Sorry. Needs to come out or I'm gonna yell at someone who doesn't deserve it, and we don't want that.
Also, an almost accidental book reviewish kind of thing. Sorry again.

I am so VERY sick of vampires. VERY VERY SICK OF VAMPIRES. So I will get out the things about said bloodsuckers that annoy me currently and feel all better. Probably. We can only hope.

1) SHUT UP ABOUT EDWARD ALREADY! 'Nuff said.
2) Of COURSE they're charming; they're VAMPIRES. As Sgt. Angua said in Terry Pratchett's "Thud", how else do you think they get people to sleep in the scary castle with the windows open? This does not mean you should trust them further than you can throw Detritus. They're predators: Predators have to be clever to be able to catch their prey; not being careful means, for vampires and human-preying predators in particular, running the risk of being wiped out.
You know, those are actually the most concrete arguments I have just at the moment, but I think they probably say a lot. Especially the first one. I like the books, I think they're nice, I don't see what the big fucking deal is. I don't want to run off with either Edward OR Jacob, thank you very much; I think they're both idiots, albeit in totally different ways. And if Bella gets mad at herself rather than perfect little Edward ONE more time, someone's getting slapped. I will admit, it's normally quite hard for an author to hold my attention after I've put the book down the first time to shout at the main character (yes, I know I'm odd; it's how I read, though), and I DID finish Eclipse, which had that effect most often, but I don't know if I want to read Breaking Dawn. The wanting to know what happens is starting to get overcome by the frustration with the characters and the circular plot. (Bella's in trouble AGAIN? Oh imagine that.)
In summary, I'm sick of vampires. Not all vampires (I think I'd still give Blade the time of day, for example), but the cliche gorgeous sympathetic vampires that can do no wrong. Fuck them. Or, actually, not, as my argument goes... Blue ball 'em instead!
